Halloween Costume for Kids

Halloween is a time when a kid’s thoughts turn to ideas of what they would like to dress up as a witch, a leprechaun or a lovely angel. This is probably the next best holiday to enjoy. The child can fantasize about being a herovillian or their favoritemovie idoll. In many ways this is a great way to create new ideas for learning new crafting skills.

You can go online and look at buying costumes, browse through ebay or go visit shops and discount stores for ready made  costumes. When the kids go trick or treating and see other kids in the same outfit, they tend to feel a little embarrassed. The best way around this is to make your own unique Halloween costumes. Another good thing about making your homemade Halloween costume is that it will cost less than a manufactured one. And it gives a feeling of satisfaction when the kids see how cool the custom made costume looks.

You might feel that you don’t have the skills to do this. No problem as you can just buy an inexpensive costume off of the shelf. For a boy, you can enhance with some type of trim that will make that batman, Iron man, or any type of costume will do. For the girl, you can add lace, feathers, ribbon to make that fairy costume come alive or dark features for the witch costume. Go to a craft store and ask what is good to use to add these features. A good choice might be to use a glue gun.

Your child may already know what they want to be which makes the process much easier. If you are having trouble in figuring out what your child wants to be find out what movies they enjoyed, books or comics that they have read. You can help the choices by  making suggestions if they want to be scary, funny, goofy or a character that they would like to be.

Some of the older kids develop ideas that they would like to theme their outfits with a group of friends. They could go like the blue man group or a band of Robin Hood comrades. Let them come up with some ideas and support them. The fun in Halloween is showing off in the costumes and turn out for some treats.
